Colca Tour - Day 2: Colonial Villages and Viewpoint of the Condor's Cross
Flight of the Condor and traditional Colca villages
Breakfast and departure to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint.
After enjoying breakfast at our hotels, we will depart for the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, undoubtedly one of the most emblematic places in the Colca Canyon. This will be the highlight of our morning tour.
Observation of the majestic Andean Condor.
From this viewpoint, we will have the incredible opportunity to observe the flight of the Andean Condor, one of the largest birds in the world. Thanks to the thermal currents of the canyon, the condors emerge majestically, providing an unforgettable natural spectacle.
Postcards of the Colca Canyon
In addition to the condors, the viewpoint will give us panoramic views that combine the immensity of the canyon with the majestic peaks of the mountain range. Thus, nature becomes the absolute protagonist of this experience.
Visit to the villages of Yanque and Maca
Then, we will start our return trip visiting two charming villages: Yanque and Maca, which preserve their Andean traditions and colonial architecture. These stops will allow us to learn more about the living culture of the Colca.
Yanque
In Yanque, we will visit its picturesque square and imposing church of San Juan Bautista, a colonial jewel of the 17th century. In addition, those who wish can relax in the nearby thermal baths of Chacapi.
Maca
Then, we will arrive in Maca, known for its church and its colorful traditional dances. It will also be possible to interact with the villagers, who keep alive their ancestral customs.
Lunch in Chivay and return to Arequipa.
12:30 p.m. - We will enjoy a buffet lunch in Chivay, perfect to recharge energies and taste the best of the local gastronomy.
17:30 p.m. - Finally, we will return to the city of Arequipa, where we will leave you near the Plaza de Armas so you can continue exploring on your own.
