We start picking you up from your hotel in Puno, as long as it is close to the Plaza de Armas.
Hours available: In the afternoon, starting at 2:00 p.m.
We will board our tourist transport to start the trip to the famous Chullpas of Sillustani. The trip lasts approximately 40 minutes.
During the tour, you will be able to admire the Andean landscapes, cross small local communities and observe the vast beauty of the altiplano.
Upon arrival at the archaeological site, we will take a guided tour of the Chullpas, impressive funerary towers built by the Colla culture.
Your guide will explain the spiritual significance of this place, as well as very interesting historical and architectural details.
From here you will also have a spectacular view of Lake Umayo and the surrounding natural environment.
Afterwards, you will have free time to explore, take pictures and enjoy the scenery at your leisure.
Before returning, we will make a stop in a nearby community. Here you will learn more about Andean traditions, see handicrafts and discover what daily life is like in this rural region.
Finally, we will return to the city. We will leave you near the Plaza de Armas of Puno to continue enjoying your stay.
The site is located over 3,800 m.a.s.l., so it is important to be acclimatized before the tour. If you have health problems related to the altitude, consult your doctor before participating.
No, the tour is suitable for all ages and does not require hiking experience. However, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
The Sillustani Chullpas are located about 34 kilometers northwest of the city of Puno, in the Peruvian altiplano, on the shores of Lake Umayo.
Children under 5 years of age are free of charge, as long as they ride on an adult's lap; if you wish the child to have his/her own seat, you pay the normal fare.
The tour lasts approximately 3 to 4 hours, including the transfer from Puno, the guided visit and free time at the archaeological site.
