Itinerary
Sillar Route Tour from Arequipa
Start of the tour
08:30 a.m. We will begin the tour by picking up passengers at the hotels in downtown Arequipa, guaranteeing a punctual and comfortable departure for everyone.
Añashuayco Quarry
09:00 a.m. We will begin our journey to the Sillar Route. Our first stop will be at the Añashuayco Quarry, located about 45 minutes from the city. This quarry is still in operation, and we will be able to observe the stonemasons working in the extraction of the sillar, a key stone in the architecture of Arequipa.
In this place we will see an impressive canyon surrounded by ignimbrite cliffs, formed by years of artisan work. We will also learn about the process of elaboration of the ashlar and its historical importance. It highlights a mega carving representing the Church of the Society of Jesus, made by the stonemasons themselves.
Culebrillas Creek
Then we will go to the Quebrada de Culebrillas, about 30 minutes from Añashuayco. Here we will hike for about 20 minutes through a natural canyon formed by the passage of water over the centuries. The canyon walls reach between 15 and 20 meters high, creating a breathtaking landscape.
At the end of the tour, we will observe petroglyphs of the Wari culture, carved more than a thousand years ago, which are a valuable testimony of pre-Inca history.
Las Apachetas: connection with Pachamama
During the tour we will also see Apachetas, mounds of stones placed as a symbol of gratitude to nature. These Andean offerings to the Pachamama reflect the deep spirituality of the native cultures of Peru.
Return to Arequipa
11:30 a.m. We will return to the city of Arequipa.
13:30 p.m. We will arrive in the center of the city, where we will drop off passengers near the Plaza de Armas.
Arequipa Countryside
Start of the tour
Pick up will be at 13:50 p.m. at Arequipa’s Main Square, meeting point to begin our tour of the charming Arequipa countryside.
Yanahuara: history and unforgettable views
We will visit the picturesque district of Yanahuara, known for its charming colonial architecture. Here we will explore its iconic portals and historic church, while discovering the fascinating history of this place. In addition, we will enjoy a spectacular view of the Misti Volcano, perfect for capturing unforgettable photographs at the famous Yanahuara Portals.
Carmen Alto viewpoint
We will continue to the Carmen Alto viewpoint, from where we will appreciate the impressive terraces of the district and a panoramic view of the three majestic volcanoes that surround Arequipa: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.
Incalpaca Minizootic
We will go to the Incalpaca Mini zoo, where admission is free. There we will be able to observe the four South American camelids: llama, alpaca, vicuña and guanaco.
Casona Villa: Arequipa’s living history
Then, we will visit the Casona Villa, an old colonial house converted into a museum. It houses valuable relics of Arequipa’s history. Admission is optional, but highly recommended for those who wish to learn more about the city’s past.
Sabandía Mill: tradition and adventure
In the traditional Molino de Sabandía, we will see a water mill still in operation and a mini zoo. In addition, you will be able to participate in optional activities such as:

There will also be the opportunity to taste typical Arequipa dishes in this beautiful natural environment.
Menelik Museum
We will end the tour with a visit to the Menelik Museum, where we will meet the most famous bull of Arequipa, recognized for the numerous medals he has won.
Return to downtown Arequipa
At the end of the tour, we will return to the city center, leaving you near the Plaza de Armas so you can continue exploring at your own pace.

Upon arrival in Chivay, we will enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast to start the day with energy.
Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint
We will move to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, one of the most emblematic and visited points of the Colca Canyon. From here, you can observe the impressive walls of the canyon, which reach more than 4,000 meters deep.
Observation of the Andean Condor
In the early morning hours, the majestic Andean Condors emerge from the bottom of the canyon, soaring through the sky with a wingspan that can reach up to 3 meters. It is a unique experience that offers spectacular photographic opportunities.
Natural landscapes
The viewpoint also offers panoramic views of the Colca Canyon, the mountains and nearby towns, generating an unforgettable connection with nature and Andean fauna.

Viewpoint of the Volcanoes – Patapampa (4,900 m.a.s.l.)
On the way back, we will make a stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of the road, from where the volcanic chain of southern Peru can be seen.
Toccra Pampa wetlands
Brief stop to observe alpacas grazing freely in this high Andean ecosystem.
Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve
We will pass through this important natural reserve, home to vicuñas in the wild, bordering the imposing snow-capped Chachani.
Arrival in Arequipa
18:00 p.m. We will arrive to the city of Arequipa and we will leave you very close to the Plaza de Armas, so you can continue your day or rest after this enriching experience.

Salinas Lagoon
Pick up and tour start
06:00 a.m. – 06:30 a.m. We start the pick up from the hotels located in the historic center of Arequipa. Once gathered, we leave for the district of Chiguata.
Volcanoes Viewpoint – Chiguata
07:30 a.m. Our first stop will be the Mirador de los Volcanes, from where we will appreciate the three tutelary giants of Arequipa: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu. Free time to take pictures.
Visit to the town of Chiguata and traditional breakfast
Then, we will visit the main square of Chiguata and its Church of the Holy Spirit, a colonial jewel of great historical value. Afterwards, we will enjoy a traditional breakfast prepared with local products.
Alto Simbral – Andean landscape
We continue our journey through the Arequipa highlands. After an hour of travel, we will stop at Alto Simbral (4,200 m.a.s.l.), where we will see native plants such as:
- Queñua
- Yareta
- Tola
Salinas Lagoon
After crossing impressive high Andean landscapes, we will arrive at the Salinas Lagoon, where we will stay between 1 hour and 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Activities according to season
- From January to March: Water mirrors ideal for spectacular photos and observation of flamingos and parihuanas.
- All year round: Sightings of vicuñas, alpacas and lamas in their natural habitat.
- From April to December: Visit to the salt extraction centers, where imagination plays an important role to achieve creative photos.
Mini Volcano and Hot Springs of Lojen
We will continue to the Mini Volcano, a very photogenic natural formation. Then we will arrive at the Lojen Hot Springs, where we will enjoy a relaxing bath surrounded by nature.
Lunch and return
At the end, we will return to the village of Chiguata to enjoy a traditional lunch. Afterwards, we will return to Arequipa.

17:30 p.m. Arrival to the city of Arequipa. The service ends near the Plaza de Armas.
01 Night in Arequipa
Start of the tour
06:00 a.m. We will start the tour with the pick up of each passenger at their respective hotels in downtown Arequipa, to take the road to Yura and leave the city towards our Andean adventure.
Pampa de Arrieros
Our first stop will be in the town of Pampa de Arrieros, where we will visit one of the most important old train stations of the colonial era. We will have a short walk to observe its traditional church and the old buildings that still preserve their original architecture.
Viewpoint of vicuñas – Salinas y Aguada Blanca Reserve
We continue to the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we will stop at the Vicuña Viewpoint. Here we will be able to observe this beautiful South American camelid in its natural habitat. The vicuña is protected by the State and is considered one of the most representative animals of the Peruvian Andes.
Patahuasi
Our next stop is in Patahuasi. Here we recommend enjoying the traditional Inca mate, prepared with three Andean medicinal plants: coca leaf, muña and chachacoma, ideal for acclimatizing to the altitude. We will also be able to observe the Patahuasi Castles, natural rock formations with shapes that awaken the imagination, some of them look like animals!
Pillone Waterfalls and Imata Stone Forest
We will head to the town of Imata, located near the border with Puno. From a designated point, we will begin a downhill hike through a ravine, following the river bank until we reach the majestic Pillone Waterfall, an impressive waterfall nestled among rocks and virgin nature.
Afterwards, we will visit the Imata Stone Forest, a mystical place also considered a natural energy center. Here, wind and rain have sculpted whimsical figures in the stone, creating an ideal setting for photography and nature lovers.
Return to Arequipa
17:00 p.m. We will arrive in the city of Arequipa, ending our tour near the Plaza de Armas.
