Visit to the Uros Floating Islands
The Uros Islands are a set of floating platforms made from totora reeds, a plant that grows in Lake Titicaca. These islands are built by placing layers of woven totora on floating root blocks, creating unique living spaces. The uros, an ancestral people who live on these islands, keep alive a culture linked to the lake. Their life is based on fishing and the use of totora reeds, traditions that have endured for more than 2,500 years.
