The Colca Valley is located from the city of Arequipa; it takes about 3 hours to get to the town of Chivay, which is the capital of the province of Caylloma, where you will find all the main services such as lodging, restaurants, night entertainment centers and others.
You can visit the Colca all year round, however the best time to visit is between April and December since the rainy season is ending and these are the months that show the most greenery of the Colca Valley and all its landscapes.
In the Colca Valley the weather varies seasonally, it is recommended to bring a warm jacket for the morning and evening as the cold increases and in the day we can use light clothing, you should also wear sneakers for short walks, hat or cap, sunscreen and sunglasses. If you plan to visit between December and March it is advisable to bring waterproof clothing since it is the rainy season.
During the tour we will make a stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes; this is located at 4900 meters above sea level, it is the highest point of the entire route. And the town of Chivay is located at an altitude of 3635 meters above sea level.
It is advisable to carry cash since not all establishments offer this service.
We recommend to take only what is necessary to spend the night on this tour, so yes, you can leave your luggage at the hotel in Arequipa with the corresponding check and on your return the second day you can pick it up.
You can do the tour with adults and children after acclimatization in the city of Arequipa, it is advisable to stay at least 01 day in the city to avoid altitude sickness during the tour.

DAY 1: CITY TOUR COUNTRYSIDE
Schedule: 14:00pm to 18:30pm
14:00pm We will pick you up from your hotel in the center of Arequipa to start our tour.
First point will be the District of Yanahuara where we can take pictures in the famous Portales de Yanahuara with the background of the Misti volcano, we will also see the Church of this traditional district.
Then we will go to the Mirador de Carmen Alto, where we will be able to appreciate the andenería of the district and also the three volcanoes that we have in Arequipa; Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.
Then we move to the Incalpaca Minizoologico, the entrance is free and we can appreciate the four South American camelids (Llama, Alpaca, Vicuña and Guanaco).
Our next stop is the Mansion of the Founder; it is a colonial mansion, now converted into a museum, which houses important relics of the history of the city of Arequipa. Admission is optional but recommended as it has a rich history.
We will visit the Sabandia Mill, which houses a working water mill and also a mini-zoological museum. If you wish to stay outside you can find optional activities such as:
You will also be able to taste typical Arequipa food.
Then we will visit the Menelic Museum where we will meet the most famous bull of Arequipa for the large number of medals he won, then we will return to the center of the city of Arequipa and we will leave you very close to the main square.
01 NIGHT IN AREQUIPA
We start picking you up from your hotels in downtown Arequipa at 07:30 a.m.
First we will take the road to Yura and enter the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca where we can appreciate one of the animals protected by this reserve, the vicuña that belongs to the family of South American camelids.
Also nearby is the village of Patahuasi where we recommend taking the traditional Inca Mate, a traditional drink essential for altitude sickness (soroche) because it contains 3 natural herbs Coca Leaf, Muña and Chachacoma.
We will also make a brief stop at the Bofedales de Toccra where we will observe large numbers of Alpacas feeding freely in the area.
Another mandatory stop at the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes, the highest point of the road that reaches 4900 m.a.s.l. from where we will appreciate the volcanic chain belonging to the western mountain range, after this place we begin to descend for about 40 min. approx. to reach the town of Chivay.
13:00pm - We will arrive to Chivay to enjoy a delicious traditional lunch.
Then we will settle in our corresponding hotels to then visit the thermal baths very good for the skin and bones. These baths are thermo-medicinal and highly recommended.
For dinner we will enjoy a folkloric show with typical dances of the area.
01 NIGHT IN CHIVAY.
We will have breakfast in our corresponding hotels, then we will move to the viewpoint of the Cruz del Condor, which is 35 minutes away, at this point we can observe the depth of the canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor.
In this place we will have an average of 45 minutes to enjoy the environment.
On the way back we will have different stops in the viewpoints of the area from where we will observe the impressive pre-Inca terraces of the valley. We will also visit the colonial towns of Yanque and the town of Maca, where we will observe its colonial churches and the typical dances of the area. We will be able to taste local drinks such as the Colca Sour, made with local products.
12:30pm - We will have lunch in Chivay and return to the city of Arequipa.
17:30pm - We will arrive in the city of Arequipa and drop you off near the main square.
