Yanahuara and its colonial charms

We will visit the picturesque district of Yanahuara, known for its charming colonial architecture. Here we will explore its iconic portals and historic church, while discovering the fascinating history of this place. In addition, we will enjoy a spectacular view of the Misti Volcano, perfect for capturing unforgettable photographs at the famous Yanahuara Portals.

Carmen Alto viewpoint

We will continue to the Carmen Alto viewpoint, where we will be able to admire the impressive terraces of the district and a panoramic view of the three volcanoes that surround Arequipa: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.

Incalpaca Minizootic

Then we will visit the Incalpaca Mini zoo, with free admission. Here we will observe the four South American camelids: llama, alpaca, vicuña and guanaco.

Casona Villa

We will visit the historic Casona Villa, an old colonial house converted into a museum that houses valuable relics. Admission is optional, but highly recommended for those who wish to learn more about the history of Arequipa.

Sabandía Mill

We will continue to the Sabandía Mill, a unique place where a water mill still works and where there is another mini zoo. Here you can enjoy optional activities such as:

• ATV ride
• Zipline

You will also have the opportunity to taste typical Arequipa dishes in this charming place.

Menelik Museum

Finally, we will visit the Menelik Museum, where we will meet Arequipa’s most famous bull, recognized for the numerous medals he has won. At the end of the tour, we will return to the city center, leaving you near the Plaza de Armas so you can continue exploring on your own.

01 Night in Arequipa

Departure from Arequipa

We will start the tour by picking you up from your hotels in downtown Arequipa at 07:30 a.m. We will take the road to Yura and enter the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, a protected area where we will be able to observe the vicuña, one of the most emblematic South American camelids of the region.

Stop in Patahuasi

We will make a stop in the picturesque village of Patahuasi, where we recommend enjoying the traditional Inca Mate, an essential drink to combat altitude sickness (soroche), made with three natural herbs: coca leaf, muña and chachacoma.

Toccra wetlands

Next, we will make a brief stop at the Bofedales de Toccra, a beautiful landscape where we will be able to observe a large number of alpacas feeding freely in the area.

Viewpoint of the Volcanoes

The next stop will be at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of our tour, at 4,900 m.a.s.l., from where we can admire the impressive volcanic chain of the western mountain range. After enjoying this landscape, we will begin a descent of approximately 40 minutes to reach the picturesque village of Chivay.

Lunch in Chivay

At 13:00 p.m. we will arrive in Chivay, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with traditional dishes of the region.

Installation and hot springs

After lunch, we will settle into our hotels, where we can relax before heading to the thermal baths, known for their thermo-medicinal properties, ideal for the skin and bones.

Folkloric dinner

In the evening, we will have a dinner accompanied by a folkloric show, with typical dances of the area that will allow us to learn more about the local traditions.

Breakfast and transfer to the viewpoint

We will have breakfast at our corresponding hotels. After breakfast, we will go to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor.

Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint

The Cruz del Condor viewpoint is one of the most emblematic and visited points of the Colca Canyon, located in the southern region of Peru. This viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the deep and majestic walls of the canyon, which extend over 4,000 meters deep.

Andean Condor Observation

The highlight of this viewpoint is the opportunity to observe the majestic Andean Condor, one of the most impressive flights in the world. In the early morning hours, the condors emerge from the depths of the canyon, gliding over the thermal currents in search of food. With a wingspan that can reach up to 3 meters, these enormous birds offer a unique spectacle for visitors.

Breathtaking landscapes

In addition to condor watching, the Cruz del Condor viewpoint offers unparalleled panoramic views of the Colca Canyon, the surrounding mountains and nearby towns. The combination of the natural scenery and the presence of the condors creates a unique experience that leaves a lasting impression on those who visit.

Visit to the villages of Yanque and Maca

On the way back we will visit the towns of Yanque and Maca, located in the Colca Valley, charming destinations that stand out for their rich history, colonial architecture and lively traditions.

Yanque

Yanque is known for its main square, where the church of San Juan Bautista is located, a colonial style construction dating from the seventeenth century. This town is famous for its landscapes, pre-Inca agricultural terraces, and its proximity to the Chacapi Hot Springs. Visitors can stroll through its cobblestone streets and experience rural Andean life.

Maca

Maca is another of the most picturesque colonial towns in the Colca Valley. Its church, of colonial origin, has frescoes and details that tell its history. Maca is known for its typical dances during festivities and for the hospitality of its people. Visitors can interact with the locals, who still preserve their ancestral customs.

Cultural experience

Both towns are ideal for immersing yourself in the history and culture of the region. Through their churches, plazas, markets and festivities, they offer a unique glimpse into the colonial legacy and living Andean traditions.

Return to Arequipa

12:30 p.m. We will have lunch in Chivay and return to the city of Arequipa.

17:30 p.m. We will arrive in the city of Arequipa, and we will leave you near the main square.

Pick up and departure from Arequipa

06:00am – 06:30am: Pick up from your hotels in the city center.

Viewpoint of the Volcanoes and Chiguata Village

07:30am: Our first visit will be to the Mirador de los Volcanes in the district of Chiguata, which we will reach in an average of 45 minutes. From there we will be able to observe our representative volcanoes and take pictures.

Afterwards, we will arrive at the town of Chiguata and visit its main square, where the traditional Espíritu Santo Church is located. Afterwards, we will enjoy a traditional local breakfast.

Alto Simbral (4,200 m.a.s.l.)

We continue the tour with a stop at Alto Simbral, where we can observe local plants such as Queñua, Yareta, Tola, among others.

Salinas Lagoon

We will arrive at the Salinas Lagoon, where we will stay between 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, making different stops to observe flamingos, parihuanas, water mirrors (from January to March), as well as vicuñas, llamas and alpacas throughout the year.

In the dry season (April to December), we will visit the salt extraction centers, ideal for spectacular photographs using our imagination.

Mini Volcano and Hot Springs of Lojen

We will continue to the Mini Volcano and the Lojen Hot Springs, where we can enjoy a relaxing thermal bath.

Lunch and return

Finally, we will return to Chiguata for lunch and then we will start our way back to the city of Arequipa.

17:30pm: Arrival in the city of Arequipa and drop off near the Plaza de Armas.

01 night in Arequipa

Pick up and departure from Arequipa

06:00 a.m.: We will start the tour with the pick up of each passenger to take the road to Yura and leave the city of Arequipa.

Town of Pampa de Arrieros

Our first stop will be in the village of Pampa de Arrieros, where we will find one of the most important old train stations in colonial times. We will take a short walk to see its church and old buildings.

Vicuñas Viewpoint

Then, we will enter the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we will visit the Vicuña Viewpoint. These animals, protected by the State, belong to the camelid family and are an emblem of the Andean fauna.

Patahuasi

In Patahuasi we recommend tasting the traditional Inca Mate, composed of three Andean herbs: coca leaf, muña and chachacoma, ideal to combat altitude sickness. We will also observe the Patahuasi Castles, natural rock formations where, with a little imagination, you can discover animal figures.

Pillone Waterfalls and Imata Stone Forest

We will head to the town of Imata, located on the border with Puno. From a nearby point, we will start a hike down a ravine and follow the river bank until we reach the impressive Pillone Waterfall.

After enjoying this landscape, we will visit the Imata Stone Forest, a place considered energetic by many visitors. Here, wind and rain have sculpted amazing figures in the rocks over time.

Return to Arequipa

17:00 p.m.: We will arrive in the city of Arequipa and drop off passengers near the Plaza de Armas.

01 night in Arequipa

08:30 a.m. – Pick up from hotels in downtown Arequipa.

We will begin the tour by picking up passengers at the hotels in downtown Arequipa, guaranteeing a punctual and comfortable departure for everyone.

09:00 a.m. – Añashuayco Quarry

We begin our journey to the Sillar Route, a route full of history and culture, where we will explore quarries and key areas in the extraction of sillar.

Our first stop will be at the Añashuayco Quarry, located approximately 45 minutes away. Currently in exploitation, here the quarrymen work from early in the morning, extracting the fundamental stone for the architecture of Arequipa.

In this impressive place, we can observe a vast canyon surrounded by cliffs (ignimbrite walls) that reach several meters in height, formed by the extraction of ashlar stone over the years.

We will learn about the fascinating history of the ashlar stone, its elaboration process and its importance in the construction of the city. In addition, we will admire a mega carving that represents the Church of the Society of Jesus, a work made by the stonemasons themselves.

Tour to Quebrada de Culebrillas Gorge

Next, we will go to the Quebrada de Culebrillas, located 30 minutes from the quarry. There we will hike for approximately 20 minutes in this small canyon formed by the passage of water over the centuries.

The canyon walls reach between 15 and 20 meters high, rising as we advance, creating an impressive landscape. At the end, we will be able to admire petroglyphs made by the Wari culture more than a thousand years ago, showing the ancestral history of the region.

Observation of the Apachetas

During the tour we will also see the Apachetas, formations of stacked stones as a symbol of gratitude to nature. They are an Andean tradition that represents offerings to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) for favors received.

11:30 a.m. – Retorno a Arequipa

We will start our way back to the city of Arequipa.

13:30 p.m. – Arrival and end of package

We will arrive in downtown Arequipa, where we will drop off passengers near the Plaza de Armas.

Pick up time at the airport or terrapuerto will be arranged.
