Itinerary
🕖 07:00 am – Departure from Arequipa
We start this exciting adventure by picking you up from your hotel in Arequipa. Get ready for a trip full of Andean landscapes, living culture and unique experiences within an authentic proposal of Colca Experiential Tourism.
🦙 09:30 am – Viewpoint of the Vicuñas
On the way, we stop at the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. Here you will be able to observe the elegant vicuñas in freedom, while enjoying the fresh air of the puna.
🍃 10:00 am – Patahuasi and mate de coca (coca tea)
We arrive at Patahuasi, where we will enjoy a comforting coca tea. This natural drink helps with acclimatization, which will make you continue the trip more comfortably.
🌿 11:00 am – Bofedales of Tocrapampa
Next, we explore the wetlands of Tocrapampa, a high Andean ecosystem rich in birds and vegetation. A unique landscape that invites you to connect with nature.
⛰️ 11:30 am – Patapampa lookout point (4,900 masl)
We climb to the highest point of the route: Patapampa. From here you can see imposing volcanoes, and you will see the apachetas, small stone towers that travelers place as an offering and symbol of protection.
🏡 01:00 pm – Welcome at Coporaque and local lunch
We arrive at the village of Coporaque and are welcomed with open arms by our host family at the Casa Vivencial. There, we enjoy a traditional lunch made with local products, in a warm and familiar atmosphere. This is one of the most authentic experiences offered by Colca Experiential Tourism.
🌾 02:30 pm – Experiential activities with the community
After lunch, we start with experiential activities. You will be able to participate in agricultural tasks such as planting or harvesting, depending on the season. In addition, you will learn how to milk cows and feed domestic animals, all guided by the local family.
♨️ 04:30 pm – Relaxation in hot springs
After an active day, nothing better than a dip in the nearby hot springs. This moment of relaxation, surrounded by mountains, is ideal for renewing energy.
🍽️ 06:30 pm – Typical dinner with the family
In the evening, we share a homemade dinner, prepared with ingredients from the valley itself. It is a perfect opportunity to talk, exchange stories and learn more about the local culture.
🔥🎶 07:30 pm – Cultural evening in Coporaque
We live a special night with typical dances, live Andean music, traditional costumes and a sample of handmade weavings. All this accompanied by a bonfire that illuminates this magical moment.
🛏️ Night – Lodging in Casa Vivencial
Finally, we rest in a cozy room inside the Casa Vivencial. Here you will feel the true warmth of an Andean home, with everything you need to spend a peaceful night. A full day in the heart of the Colca Experiential Tourism.
🗓️Chimpa and Farewell to the Colca
The day begins at 6:30 am with a traditional breakfast at the Casa Vivencial. This homemade meal, prepared with fresh products from the valley, will give you the energy you need for a day full of culture and landscapes.
At 7:10 a.m., we begin our journey to the north of the valley. This second day continues our experience of Colca Living Tourism, integrating nature, history and local life.
⛪ 8:00 am – Colonial Church of Lari
We visit the district of Lari, where one of the most beautiful colonial churches of the Colca is located. Its baroque architecture and rural setting make it an essential stop.
🥾 8:30 am – Hike to Chimpa Fortress
From this point, we begin the hike to the Chimpa Fortress. The trail, which takes about an hour and a half, crosses Andean landscapes and offers spectacular views of the canyon. In addition, you will learn about the ancestral history of this archaeological site, which was an important defensive zone of pre-Inca cultures.
⬇️ 10:30 am – Descent and visit to Madrigal
After enjoying the view from the top, we begin our descent to the town of Madrigal. At 11:00 am, we arrive at its main square, where you will learn more about its history, customs and local life.
🍽️ 12:30 pm – Lunch in Chivay
We continue to the town of Chivay, where a buffet lunch with typical dishes of the region awaits us. An excellent opportunity to taste the traditional flavors of the Colca.
🚌 1:30 pm – Return to Arequipa
After lunch, we start our return trip to Arequipa. This is the end of this unforgettable experience of the Colca Experience Tourism, taking with us authentic memories and a real connection with the Andean culture.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The Colca Valley is located from the city of Arequipa; in a trip of 03 hours approx. you will arrive to the town of Chivay which is the capital of the province of Caylloma, where you will be able to find all the main services such as lodging, restaurants, night entertainment centers and others.
It is advisable to carry cash since not all establishments offer this service.
In the Colca Valley the weather varies seasonally, it is recommended to bring a warm jacket for the morning and evening as the cold increases; and in the day we can use light clothing; you should also wear sneakers for short hikes, hat or cap, sunscreen and sunglasses. If you plan to visit between December and March it is advisable to bring waterproof clothing since it is the rainy season.
