New Year’s Eve in the Colca Valley

New Year’s Eve in the magical town of Chivay located in the Colca Valley.

A totally different experience as you can enjoy a show of typical dances, live show with local orchestra, cotillion and a delicious special dinner.

NEW YEAR’S EVE IN THE COLCA VALLEY

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 01:

On this tour we will visit one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. We start picking you up from your corresponding hotels in downtown Arequipa at 07:00 am.

First we will take the road to Yura and enter the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, where we can appreciate one of the animals protected by this reserve, the vicuña, which belongs to the family of South American camelids.

We will visit the village of Patahuasi where we recommend drinking the traditional Inca Mate, a traditional drink essential for altitude sickness (soroche) as it contains 3 natural herbs Coca Leaf, Muña and Chachacoma.

Then we will make a brief stop also in the Bofedales de Toccra where we will observe large numbers of Alpacas feeding freely in the area.

Another mandatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of the road that reaches 4900 m.a.s.l. from where we will appreciate the volcanic chain belonging to the western mountain range, after this place we will begin to descend for about 40 min. approx. to reach the town of Chivay.

13:00 p.m. – We will arrive to Chivay to enjoy a delicious traditional lunch.

Then we will settle in our corresponding hotels to relax in the thermal baths very good for the skin and bones. These baths are highly recommended thermo-medicinal and are located in the magical town of Yanque.

For dinner we will enjoy a unique folkloric show with typical dances of the area live show with local orchestra and a delicious special dinner plus cotillion and finally we will toast at midnight with glasses of wine, grapes and make our wishes for next year.

1 Night in Chivay.

DAY 02:

We will taste our corresponding breakfast in our hotel and then head to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, where we can observe the depth of the canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor. In this place we will be an average of 45 minutes to observe the beauty of the Colca Canyon.

On the way back we will have different stops in the viewpoints of the area where we will observe the impressive pre-Inca terraces of the valley. We will also visit the colonial towns of Yanque and Maca, where we will observe their colonial churches and the typical dances of the area. We will be able to taste local drinks such as the Colca Sour made with local products.

12:30 p.m. – We will have lunch in Chivay in a tourist restaurant and return to Arequipa city.

17:30 p.m. – We will arrive to the city of Arequipa and we will leave you near the main square.
