Itinerary
07:00 AM – Pick up from your hotel to start our trip to the Colca Valley.
07:30 AM – We begin our excursion to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. Along the way we will make several stops for sightseeing:
- Pampa Cañahuas: We will observe vicuñas in their natural habitat, the most representative camelid of the area.
- Patahuasi: Short break to enjoy a traditional coca tea, ideal to acclimatize to the altitude.
- Volcanoes Viewpoint (4,910 masl): Highest point of the tour, from where we will appreciate the majesty of the western mountain range.
From here we will start the descent to Chivay, arriving in approximately 45 minutes. Then we will continue to the traditional village of Coporaque, where we will be warmly welcomed by our host family.
Lunch and relaxation in the experiential house
We will enjoy a homemade lunch prepared with organic products from the area. Afterwards, we will settle into our rooms and have a short rest.
Cultural hike and archaeological exploration
In the afternoon, we will tour the Coporaque plaza and visit the Local Interpretation Center. Then, we will hike to Yuraqaqa, where we will explore ancient chullpas and pre-Inca mummies. In this sacred place, we will perform a small ritual of payment to the tutelary hill as a sign of respect. The hike lasts approximately 2 hours (round trip) on a quiet trail.
Relaxation in the hot springs of Sallihua
We will end the day with a relaxing bath in the hot springs of Sallihua, perfect for resting after the hike.
Dinner and cultural evening
Back at the lodge, we will enjoy a delicious traditional dinner. To close the day, our host family will share stories and local legends in the warmth of their home.
